Day 23 - The Kong

Today, new mom and pop were cleaning the house again. That always means that someone is about to come over, but no one came over. Maybe the someone is coming over tomorrow instead.

Since they spent so much time cleaning, I spent a lot of the day sleeping. And when I wasn't sleeping, I was whining for attention. Its so tough to be a neglected hound dog. :(

Knowing that my walk is just a few days away, I was determined to get some form of training in, even if the humans were too busy to play with me. When the female let me outside, I decided to lay down and wait on the patio until the nemesis of choice came to me. And it did. Or I should say THEY did.

I cant believe that I hadn't even seen them coming. It was a surprise attack! I heard a strange noise right about my head, and when I got up, my intuition proved to be right. I was in a heated battle with 3 flies!

I jumped at them and barked at them. I stood on my hind legs and tried to bite them! New mom watched this whole thing, but she never came to help. She must have been afraid. Her fear gave me the courageous edge I needed to stand up to the 3 flies as I began to tire. I had to protect my home and my family from the invasion. In my last attempt to scare them off, I lunged at the commander fly and ate him! The other flies were scared and took off. I told them "Woof - WOOF WOOF WOOF!!!!" as they left. I could tell they were scared cause they weren't flying straight and were running into things.

I had finally beaten the flies!!!

To reward my courage and amazing feat, the female human gave me a very special Kong. It was stuffed with peanut-butter coated kibble and chicken! It was one of the best stuffed kongs I've had in a long time, and in a strange way, I owe it to the flies.

  2. Haha, good for you! Our Husky, Katya, generally pays no mind to the flies that come around in Summer, but our kitties certainly do! They've been known to leap straight up two or three feet to snag one in mid-air!
